Plenty of punters availed themselves of the odds on offer, Alamosa being backed in from an opening quote of $3.20 to prove the worst result of the day.

Other bad results for the bookies included the heavily backed Vanessa and Wayne Hillis-trained Eye Me Up and York Cup winner Mirkola Lass. 

This weekend the attention turns to the Waikato Times Gold Cup meeting and the first day of the Manawatu Carnival and it promises to be a big one for both punters and the bookies.
