 Punters got away to a good start on the first day of the Wellington Cup Carnival with both Xcellent and Seachange (pictured) proving very popular with multi takers.
Other heavily backed winners on the day included Magic Tryst and the Stephen McKee-trained pair Castlereagh and Derby bound Pierre Joseph at Avondale.
At Trentham Indian Wells, High Priest and Geordie Girl proved popular with punters as did northern visitor Fritzy Boy and the Brian and Shane Anderton trained Of The Essence at Gore.
