"I don't know if it's the same punter - it probably is - but there has been a $20,000 bet each time Sir Slick has run and won lately," said Paul Lally, head of the TAB's Fixed Odds betting. "He has certainly become the Punters Pal with some devastating wins of late and he has the confidence of the big punters who are not scared to have a go. "It just seems another week and another Sir Slick win." What the bookies lost on Sir Slick they more than made up when Nightlign looked good winning the Gr I Ford Manawatu Sires' Produce Stakes. "It was a good result for us with Pierre Joseph and The Pooka being heavily backed all week," said Lally. "Pasta Post was also a good winner for us with punters backing Narredson and the southerner Coup Callum." This week sees some top racing around New Zealand and Australia with the highlights being the Gr I NZ Bloodstock Breeders Stakes at Te Aroha and the Gr I AJC Derby and Gr I Doncaster Handicap in Sydney.

Sir Slick (pictured) is proving money in the bank for not only his owners, Barry Brown and Graeme Nicholson. One punter "invested" $20,000 on Sir Slick to win the Gr II Lawnmaster Awapuni Gold Cup and for his outlay at odds of $1.50 he made $10,000.
